Jet ski & PWC lift prices in 2026

Updated

8 min readUS prices, sources cited

A jet ski (PWC) lift costs about $1,500–$4,000 for the hardware for a 1,200–2,000-lb lift,[1] and floating drive-on ports retail for about the same, $2,300–$2,800 for one ski.[11,12] Installed, a PWC lift typically runs $3,000–$10,000, depending on the mount and whether it needs pilings or power.[4,3]

The short answer

For one ski, the hardware is a few thousand dollars whichever type you pick. The installation changes the total: a freestanding lift or a port on an existing floating dock is cheap to set up; a lift that needs pilings or a power run costs several times the hardware.

PWC lift types

Most single-ski setups use one of four designs, picked by your dock (fixed or floating), the depth and whether the level moves.

In ShoreMaster’s words, a lift raises the ski with a winch or motor; a floating PWC dock supports it on a buoyant drive-on platform.[14]

Shallow-water options

In shallow water the question is clearance: the cradle must lower far enough for the ski to float on and off without the hull or intake touching bottom.

  • Cantilever lifts, a simple, low-profile choice for steady shallow water per ShoreMaster;[13] one 1,200-lb model has 30 in. of cradle travel.[6]
  • Vertical lifts suit fluctuating water.[13] One 1,200-lb model has 60 in. of travel,[7] and a 1,500-lb model works in water up to 66 in. deep.[8]
  • Drive-on ports need enough depth to float on and off without scraping, especially at the rear entry.[14]

Too shallow for any of these? The fix is usually a longer dock, not a different lift. The dock cost guide prices the extra walkway; floating vs fixed docks covers which suits your water.

Capacity: 1,200 to 2,000 lb

Single-ski lifts are commonly rated 1,200–2,000 lb.[1] Skis weigh about 270–950 lb by model, and tanks hold 5–20 gallons at about 6.25 lb per gallon.[16]

Sizing. ShoreMaster’s boat formula is dry weight, plus fuel at 6 lb per gallon, plus 500 lb for everything else, with a 20% margin, sizing up between sizes.[15] The 500 lb is meant for boats; for a ski, add fuel and whatever stays aboard, then the 20%. Two examples (our arithmetic, a full 20-gallon tank at 6 lb per gallon):

  • Heaviest three-seater: 950 + 120 lb of fuel = 1,070 lb, about 1,284 lb with 20%: choose a 1,500-lb lift, not a 1,200.
  • Light ski: 428 + 120 = 548 lb, about 658 lb with the margin. A 1,200-lb lift has room to spare.

Two skis. Dual lifts carry each ski on its own side: one freestanding model is rated 1,200 lb per side,[9] a piling-mounted electric model 2,800 lb in total.[10] Size each side for the heavier ski.

PWC lift hardware prices

Boatzon puts lifts for 1,200–2,000-lb craft at $1,500–$4,000;[1] RGC Marine’s 2026 range, $2,500–$8,000+, takes in powered, heavier and dual units.[2] Real listings sit mostly in the lower band:

A motor adds cost and needs power at the dock; a hand wheel is the cheapest start on a light ski.

05

Installed cost

Installed, a Southwest Florida lift contractor reports $4,000–$8,000 for PWC lifts,[3] and ThePricer gives $3,000–$10,000.[4] The gap above the hardware price is the installation and the work around it:

  • Simple placement of a lift: about $500–$2,000.[2]
  • On a floating dock: $1,200–$2,800.[17]
  • New pilings for a pile-mounted hoist: $850–$1,850 each in coastal North Carolina.[4]
  • Power for a motorized lift, if the dock has none.

The boat lift installation cost guide covers each, plus permits and DIY. A small freestanding cantilever in calm water is one of the more realistic DIY installs.

Choose a port if you have a floating dock and want the quickest drive-on, drive-off routine; ShoreMaster calls floating ports simpler day to day.[14] Choose a lift if your dock is fixed or you want the ski raised clear on a pile or seawall mount.

07

What it costs to own

  • Maintenance: about $100–$400 a year for a boat lift.[17]
  • Cables: replace galvanized cable about every two years; stainless lasts up to twice as long.[18]
  • Buying used: manual lifts sell for about $800–$2,000.[17]
  • Ports have no cables or motor; keep the platform and wheel pockets clean.

PWC lift FAQ

How much is a jet ski lift?

About $1,500–$4,000 for a 1,200–2,000-lb lift, with some estimates running to $8,000+ for heavier or powered models. Installed, expect roughly $3,000–$10,000, depending on the mount and whether it needs pilings or power.

Is a drive-on PWC port cheaper than a lift?

The hardware costs about the same: single-ski ports retail for about $2,300–$2,800, a manual cantilever lift for about $2,000. A port has no motor or cables to maintain, but it needs a floating dock to attach to and enough depth to float the ski on and off.

What size lift do I need for a jet ski?

Add the ski’s dry weight, a full tank (about 6 lb per gallon) and anything you leave aboard, then add 20%. Light skis fit a 1,200-lb lift easily; the heaviest three-seaters, about 950 lb dry, work out to roughly 1,300 lb and need a 1,500-lb lift.

How much does a double jet ski lift cost?

Retail examples: $3,725 for a freestanding dual cantilever lift (1,200 lb per side) and $5,398 for a piling- or seawall-mounted electric lift rated 2,800 lb, before installation.

Can a PWC lift go in shallow water?

Yes. Cantilever lifts are the usual choice for steady, shallow water; where the level moves, a vertical lift has more cradle travel. See shallow-water options.

How much does it cost to install a PWC lift?

A simple placement runs about $500–$2,000; new pilings and electrical work cost more. See the boat lift installation guide.

Key takeaways
  • A single PWC lift costs about $1,500–$4,000 for 1,200–2,000-lb capacity; drive-on ports retail for about $2,300–$2,800.
  • Installed, PWC lifts typically run $3,000–$10,000, driven by the mount, pilings and power.
  • Cantilevers suit steady shallow water; vertical lifts handle changing levels; ports need a floating dock.
  • Size for dry weight + a full tank + gear, plus 20%. The heaviest skis need a 1,500-lb lift.
